Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

You are going to love this Baked Brie in Puff Pastry. Also known as brie en croute, it's made with creamy brie, sweet fig jam, and toasted pecans for a delicious dish you can't resist.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed
  • 8 oz round of Brie cheese
  • 1/3 cup pecans toasted & chopped
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 3 Tbsp Fig jam or any other fruit jam
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water whisked egg wash

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup toasted chopped pecans, 1/4 cup dried cranberries, and 3 Tbsp fig jam (or any other fruit jam). Mix everything together well, then set aside.
  • Place 1 sheet of thawed puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface and roll the puff pastry into an 11x11 inch square.
  • Place the jam and nut mixture into the center of the puff pastry sheet and spread it into a circle roughly the same size as the perimeter of the Brie.
  • Now place the round of Brie cheese on top of the filing.
  • Then begin folding in the edges of the puff pastry. To help the dough adhere to itself, brush the eggwash in between each fold.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the wrapped Brie seem side down.
  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Notes

  • Toast the nuts- Toasting the pecans will make them even nuttier and more crisp and crunchy.
  • Thaw the puff pastry- Let the puff pastry thaw overnight in the fridge or on the counter the day you are making this Baked Brie in Puff Pastry so it's easier to work with.
  • Make the filling the size of the brie- Spread the nut and fruit mixture to roughly the same size as the perimeter of the Brie, so each bite gets a little bit of each.
  • Use the egg wash to hold the pastry together- To help the dough adhere to itself, brush the egg wash in between each fold before baking it.
