Preheat your basket air fryer to 370 degrees Fahrenheit. Note: if you have an oven air fryer, reduce the degrees to 350.
Spread the melted butter on one side of 1 slice of bread using a pastry brush. Then place it on a plate, buttered side down.
Add the 1 slice havarti and 1 slice cheddar cheese on top and place another slice of bread on top. Generously butter the top of the second slice of bread. Repeat this with the other grilled cheese sandwich.
Now place both sandwiches in the basket air fryer and air fryer for 4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for 4 more minutes. Serve warm.

Preheat your air fryer- To get the sandwich crisp and not steam it, wait to put the grilled cheese in until after the air fryer has reached 370 degrees.
Butter generously- This step helps keep the bread moist so it doesn't become dry and crumby. It also helps it crisp up and turn a golden brown.
Flip them- Make sure you flip the sandwiches because the air cannot circulate to the bottom of them otherwise. This gets both sides crispy.
If you have an oven air fryer- You can still make this with an oven air fryer. Just reduce the temperature to 350 and follow the recipe as is.
