TikTok’s Viral Baked Feta Pasta
If you’ve been on TikTok lately, then you’ve probably seen this Baked Feta Pasta recipe. While there are some variations, it’s a super simple and delicious pasta dish that you’re going to love. Sweet, juicy cherry tomatoes and Greek feta cheese are roasted with fragrant garlic and then tossed with pasta and fresh basil. This Baked Feta Pasta went viral on TikTok because it is so easy and so tasty. You’ve got to try it!
What you’ll need
- Feta cheese- In a block, not crumbles
- Vegetables- Cherry tomatoes, Garlic cloves (minced)
- Spices & herbs- Red pepper flakes, Salt, Black pepper, and fresh basil (chopped)
- Olive oil
- Pasta- I used Casaracce but you can use penne, rotini, rigatoni or any kind you like.
How to Make Baked Feta Pasta
- Season the tomatoes. Place the cherry tomatoes in a 9×13 deep baking dish. Add the salt, pepper, and minced garlic cloves. Then drizzle them with 1/4 cup of olive oil and toss so they are coated.
- Place the feta cheese in the baking dish. Now move the tomatoes to make room in the center of the dish, and place the block of feta cheese there. Drizzle the rest of the olive oil over the feta and sprinkle the red pepper flakes on top.
- Bake. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30-35 minutes.
- Cook the pasta. While the tomatoes and feta bake, cook the pasta in a pot of salted boiling water. Then drain it into a colander.
- Add the basil. When the tomatoes and feta cheese are done, add the chopped basil and use a wooden spoon to mash everything together.
- Add the pasta. Add the cooked pasta to the baking dish and toss until it is coated in the sauce. Then garnish it with more chopped basil. Serve warm.
Tips for the best Baked Feta Pasta
- Use the sweetest tomatoes- The Cherubs brand is what I used because it has the sweetest cherry tomatoes and makes the best Baked Feta Pasta.
- Choose Greek feta cheese- Greek feta is made with at least 70% sheep’s milk and has a creamier texture than those feta cheeses that are made with cow’s milk.
- Use pasta water to bind the sauce- If your sauce doesn’t come together as you want, try using some pasta water at the end to bind everything together.
Variations to try
- Use different vegetables- You can add other vegetables to this Baked Feta Pasta, including broccoli, onions, asparagus, bell peppers, or mushrooms. You could also use grape tomatoes in place of the cherry if you like those better.
- Change up the seasonings- If you like it spicier, add some fresh chiles or more red pepper flakes. Add the garlic at the end for a stronger taste instead of roasting it with the tomatoes. Or you could add other spices for different flavors, like thyme for an earthy taste.
- Try a different cheese or pasta. If you don’t like feta, this recipe can also be made with brie or burrata as the star. In the case of pasta, you can substitute it with something different altogether, such as rice, quinoa, beans, lentils, or couscous.
- Add meat. You can keep this dish meatless or add some grilled chicken, sausage, or shrimp.
How to Store and Reheat it
This delicious Baked Feta Pasta tastes best fresh, but you can store any leftovers in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. When you are ready to serve them, just heat them in the microwave until warmed through, or on the stovetop.
