What You’ll Need

Ingredient Notes
- Large Honeycrisp apples– These apples have a great mix of sweet and tart flavor, as well as a really crunchy texture that gives these apple chips some extra texture.
- Ground cinnamon– Apple and cinnamon just go together. This adds warm spicy notes to the chips.
Add-ins and Substitutions
- Try them chewy- I love them crispy, but if you want a chewier version, just cut the apple slices on the thicker side so they hold onto more moisture and don’t crisp up.
- Make them your fall favorite- Fall is pumpkin everything, so try these with some pumpkin spice (homemade or store-bought) for a seasonal treat.
- Add a touch of sweetness- Some brown sugar mixed in with the cinnamon will give a delicious sweetness to these air fryer apple chips. Perfect for dessert.
- Use different apple varieties- Honeycrisp apples are crunchy and sweet-tart, which brings great flavor, but there are so many varieties that you can experiment with. Use pink lady, golden delicious, gala, or fuji apples.
How to Make Air Fryer Apple Chips
- Wash and cut the apples. First, wash and dry the apples. You can core them or leave them whole, depending on your preference. Then slice them thinly with a knife or, better yet, a mandoline slicer for evenly thin slices.
- Add the cinnamon. Place the apple slices in a single layer on the bottom of your air fryer basket. Then lightly dust them with cinnamon, as much as you like.
- Cook them. Heat the air fryer to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and bake them for 15-20 minutes, flipping and adjusting them every 5 minutes. They may fly around a little in the basket because they are so thin, but don’t worry, that’s normal.
- Repeat. Repeat these steps until all the apples are sliced, seasoned, and cooked to crispy deliciousness. Enjoy!
Pro Tip: Only slice one apple at a time. This helps to avoid browning.

Recipe Tips
- Dry you apples- It’s important to reduce the moisture of the apples in every way possible, so dry them thoroughly before slicing and air frying them.
- Only do one apple at a time- Apples brown quickly, which will make them look less appetizing. Only slice one at a time to avoid this happening.
- Preheat the air fryer- Make sure to preheat the air fryer so that it is at temp when you put in the basket of apple slices. Otherwise they will steam instead of crisp up.
FAQs
While we are dehydrating the apple slices in this recipe, we are also making them crispy. Just dehydrating the apple slices can take as little as 15 minutes on a high temperature, but to get it crispy will take about 20 minutes per apple.
You can toss the apple slices in a lemon juice and water mixture for about 5 minutes before air frying to keep them from browning and also to keep them fresher longer once dry and crispy.

Make This Recipe in Advance
Make ahead: This is an easy recipe to make, but you can’t prep it too far in advance. The apples will brown if they aren’t air-fried right away. I suggest just washing the apples ahead of time, then slicing and frying when you’re ready to serve them.
Storing: Store these Air Fryer Apple Chips in a ziplock bag or airtight container at room temperature. They will stay crispy for about a week.
Freeze: You can freeze these apple chips but they will lose their crispiness when they thaw. It’s best to make them fresh.

Crispy Air Fryer Apple Chips
Ingredients
- 3 large Honeycrisp apples
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Wash and dry 3 honey crisp apples. You can either core them or leave them whole. Then slice them into very thin slices. I highly recommend using a mandoline slicer to get perfectly thin and even slices. Tip: don’t slice all the apples at once. They turn brown very quickly, so slice one at a time.
- Once you have your apples all sliced, place as many as you can in a single layer on the bottom of the air-fryer basket. Then lightly dust with ground cinnamon. Add as much cinnamon as you like. You can also sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar for extra sweetness.
- Now cook them at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure to adjust and flip them every 5 minutes. Since the apple chips are thin, they might fly around a little. But that’s totally ok, they will be deliciously crispy once they are done!
- Repeat these steps with the remaining apple slices and enjoy!
